The
Holistic Approach to Eating includes the whole person - with physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual needs. Its unique value is that it creates
lasting results, because it gives you an opportunity to meet all of your
needs in an appropriate way. After over 20 years of dieting, I was finally
able to achieve and maintain my ideal weight permanently using this approach.
What's Wrong with Losing Weight?

There are no shortage of books on diet. The bookstores are full of
them. But I recently came across one book, that I liked a lot. We will make
it our official textbook.
The book is:
You don't have to be thin to win
by Judy Molnar
Forward
by Rosie O'Donnell
ISBN: 0-375-50414-1
Villar New York, $19.95, pages 180.

Now, some of you may be thinking: Here comes a sales
pitch. Actually there is none. I don't sell the book. I don't gain anything.
I review lot of books for our website. I bought Judy's book and happened to
like it. For one thing, she is just an ordinary person like most of us are - not
a celebrity. And she covers all aspects- mind, body , and soul. If she can
do it, we should be able to do it too. And she gives a step by step process
of accomplishing it. So, I think if we have to read a book, this is a good
one. (Remember many people eat when they are upset or watching TV. Get out
of that habit. Read this book instead.)Who is Judy Molnar and why should
you bother reading the book? Here is an excerpt from the book:
"In 1996,I
got scared. I went to the doctor and learned that I was no longer fat, I was
'morbidly obese.' This was no longer about a dress size; this was life and
death. And so I began an extraordinary journey from being a 330-pound
sedentary woman who ate five or six doughnuts for breakfast to losing 130
pounds, getting fit enough to compete in the World Ironman Championship
Triathlon in Hawaii, and becoming the Official Chub Club Coach for The Rosie
O'Donnell Show. While I might not fit the conventional image of an athlete
or fitness expert, I am healthy and happier than I've ever been. I wrote
this book for people who, like me, have tried every program from A to
Z—diets, gyms, trainers —and are looking for real and realistic results. You
Don't Have to Be Thin to Win tells my story, illustrates my program (the
only one that has ever worked for me), and shows you how you, too, can win
your health and life back."
Judy Molnar
'You Don't Have to Be Thin to
Win' is Judy's special recipe for health and fitness. She shows you
everything from how to buy sneakers and how to find a way to move that works
for your body and your time constraints to how to get through a grocery
store and come out with foods that will make you a winner. And Judy is
inspiring: Even if you feel that getting your body in shape is impossible,
her story and many of the poignant success stories from her work as the Official
Chub Club Coach will get you off the couch and moving. Judy's story and this
program demonstrate that anyone—no matter what size, shape, or age—can lose
weight and become healthy to enjoy a richer, fuller, and more active
life.
And here is part of what Rosie talks in the forward to the
book:
"While most fitness people intimidate me, I immediately felt
comfortable with Judy. Okay, maybe the fact that she had competed in the
Ironman Triathalon was a little intimidating, but on the other hand it was
inspiring. Here was this formerly big person who had figured out how to take
care of herself. She has a simple philosophy—eat less, move more. All of a
sudden diet and exercise took on human dimensions—these were terms I could
understand.
Through the Chub Club, Judy was able to help thousands of
people. She gave us goals that were attainable. As opposed to diving into
deprivation and boot camp, we could start being healthier in small steps—one
less doughnut, one more flight of stairs. Little by little it all adds
up."
You can probably find this book in your library or ask the librarian
to get it for you. I checked Amazon.com, the book is not there; they sell
the tapes. Don't waste your money on it. But I saw several individuals
selling their used book in Amazon. You can pick up a book for about $6
(including postage). That is a great deal. It is well worth the
money.
I will tell separately how 4 of you can get the book free just for
reviewing and telling us about it.
Beginning with the next article,
I will talk about "16 steps for getting ready to get into the game." It is a
step by step blue print.
