Additional helpful Western herbs include comfrey root, Solomon's seal, hawthorn berries and myrrh. Additional Chinese herbs are dang qui, rehmannia, zizyphus, ginseng, astragalus and formulas like Ten Major Herbs.
Take a small amount of red wine or the herbal wine
Get plenty of rest, relax, be quiet, spend time in nature, meditate and do sitting yoga postures.
Sandalwood oil can be applied to the forehead or chest when palpitations or pain occur.

Take a milk decoction of ashwagandha, 3-6 grams of the herb and 1 teaspoon of ghee per cup, 2-3 times a day.

The anti-Vata diet
emphasizes warm, heavy and moist foods that give strength. Eat several small meals, mildly spiced and with only a few different types of foods per meal. Don't eat when you are nervous or worried. Avoid dry, light and artificial foods and irregular diet.
Dietary considerations include:
oats and brown rice. Avoid corn grains, buckwheat, millet, rye, barley, granola and dried grains.

Sweeteners such as maple syrup, raw sugar, molasses, honey and fructose (fruit sugar) are
OK. Avoid refined white sugar. Most spices are permitted, including garlic, fennel, nutmeg, ginger, basil, cumin, cinnamon, fenugreek, mint, black pepper, cayenne, mustard and horseradish.
Plenty of fluids
are helpful for Vata-type illnesses. Milk, herbal teas and sour fruit juices are
recommended. Small amounts of alcohol or herbal wines are sometimes suggested before or with meals.
